Silent Movie (Unit 3)

Silent Movie  Unit 3 ( Lock-down ) Research   During the lesson period, we looked at 2 different genres of silent movies, comedy and a horror. The horror silent movie we looked at was called NOSFERATU: A Symphony Of Horror. And the comedy silent movie was called The Cure.   The Cure is a comedy silent movie, which was released in 1917 starring Edna Purviance, Eric Campbell, Henry Bergman, Charlie Chaplin and was directed by Charlie Chaplin himself. This movie was considered as a short comedy because it had a duration of 31 minutes. The movie was loved by the audience. In fact, it was loved so much that the Chaplin Mutual Project restored in 2013 by the help of The George Lucas Family Foundation, The Film Foundation and The Material World Charitable Foundation Nosferatu: A Symphony Of Horror  is an unofficial adaption of the 1897 novel Dracula, which was authorized by Bram Stoker. Nosferatu was released in 1922 starring Max Schreck, Gustav Von Wangenheim,

Unit 9 Production Values Lighting

Image
Camden Peoples Theatre Performance (Silent Movie) I remember for the silent movie performance, we used white, blue and red lights. We used spotlights, blackouts and fixed focus lighting to convey the different emotions on stage. I feel that if we used flicker lighting with red coloured lighting for some scenes, such as the scene where Adina is forced to pick up the glow cane. The reason for this is because it creates more tension for the audience. But the reason why we didn't add this feature is because we didn't want anyone (with epilepsy) to get affected. Another feature which I think would've made the performance look better is adding Fresnel lighting with a tint of blue and red. I would add it in the scene where Adina gets possessed. The reason for this is because it creates a scary and anonymous character build up. The reason why we didn't add this is because we were very limited with time and resources.

Unit 9 (Production Value)

Unit 9 Production Value Scene 31, the setting is in Conwy Castle. Since the scene is set in a castle, the audience have to be able to recognise and feel the atmosphere of a castle.  My idea for creating the castle atmosphere was making a fake castle with real stones but since adding the castle as a set could consume too much time, I just thought of adding a stone wall in the back and sides of the stage. The reason why I didn't want to add too many things is because I think it will look too complicated.

Unit 9 (Our Day Out) and Radio Research

Image
Unit 9 ( Radio Play) A Radio play is a published or broadcasted audio performance that requires the audience to picturize what they hear rather than without the help of visual elements. What differentiates a theatrical play and a radio play is one has visual components (Theatre play) and the other requires the audience the visualize the story with their imagination with the help of music, sound effects and dialogue (Radio play). The reason why music and sound effects are added is because it helps to build the atmosphere for the audience so they can imagine the story and characters better. Radio drama is also known as Radio play. The radio play I was listening to was A Call From The Dead, which was scripted by Carey Harrison and was directed by Sally Avens. It stars John Shrapnel as Dr Edward Elmore, Nick Dunning as Stephen Warburton. Christopher Scott as Reverend Neville and Carolyn Jones as Martha. It was first broadcasted on BBC Radio 4 in 1997. It's about a do

Unit 7 (monologues)

Unit 7 (Monologue Costume)   I'm doing a monologue from The Curious Incident of The Dog in The Night-Time, and the character I'm playing is Christopher Boone. Christopher is 15 years old who has autism. Christopher is very independent and doesn't socialise much with anyone. In fact, he wants to do everything on his own and doesn't want any interference. He doesn't empathise much with anyone as he doesn't know how to. He doesn't have much friends as he doesn't trust anyone. He is very talented at maths and has a great photographic memory. He also has a pet rat named Toby, which passes away later on in the play. Costume   Christopher doesn't really care about what he wears. He would usually wear a blue hoodie, plain cream trousers and white/black sneakers. The reason why clothing doesn't bother him is because he thinks it's pointless, as long as you're wearing something that's covering your skin, that's p
